Wala kang bayag!

That was former Special Action Force (SAF) commander Gen. Getulio Napeñas’ short and not-so-sweet message to President Benigno Aquino III on Friday, April 8.

“Kahit nasa harap ko siya ngayon, sasabihin ko sa kanya, wala kang bayag!” United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) senatorial candidate Napeñas said during a rally in Quezon province.

This was in response to the Office of the Ombudsman’s recent finding of probable cause to indict him over the bloody Mamasapano, Maguindanao encounter in January 2015.

The operation, which carried a death toll of 44 SAF commandos, targeted the neutralization of international terrorist Zulkifli Bin Hir, alias Marwan.

“Galit ako. Tinanggal nila ang mga benepisyo ko. Hindi ko daw sinunod ang chain of command. Nilaglag ako at ngayon ako ang pinagpapaliwanag,” Napeñas said.

But the ex-SAF chief claimed that Aquino–the commander-in-chief–gave his go signal for the operation as early as November 2014.

Being the good solider that he is, Napeñas said that he followed his superiors’ orders, including keeping then-Interior Secretary Mar Roxas and then-Philippine National Police (PNP) officer-in-charge Leonardo Espina about the operation.
“Kayo napo ang humusga sa akin,” he told the crowd at the rally.
